GUIDE 01 · TRON ENERGY RENTAL

How to rent TRON Energy for a USDT transfer

TRC20 transfers execute a smart contract. Energy is the TRON resource that helps cover that execution cost.

What happens when you rent Energy?

Energy rental temporarily delegates a resource allocation to a TRON wallet. It does not transfer TRX or USDT to that wallet. The wallet can then use its available Energy while sending a compatible smart-contract transaction.

Use the wallet that will send the USDT as the paying wallet. In a payment-address flow, Energy is normally delegated to the address that actually pays on-chain.

Three checks before payment

01 · WALLET

Do not pay through an exchange withdrawal. You need control of the wallet that will later send USDT.

02 · AMOUNT

Review your wallet’s transaction estimate. Energy required can vary with contract and recipient conditions.

03 · WINDOW

Confirm the rental duration. TronZero packages are presented as fixed one-hour resource windows.

Does Energy guarantee a zero-fee transfer?

No. TRON transactions can also use Bandwidth. If available resources are not enough, the network can consume TRX to cover a shortfall. Keep a small TRX balance and review the wallet estimate before sending.

How to verify rental delivery

  1. Check the Energy estimate in the wallet that will send USDT. Choose a package that covers the shortfall.
  2. Transfer the exact listed TRX price from that same wallet to the official payment address. Do not use an exchange withdrawal address.
  3. Look up your sending address on TRONSCAN or in your wallet. Check available Energy (Energy limit minus Energy used); a confirmed TRX payment alone does not prove delegation has arrived.
  4. After Energy arrives, review the USDT estimate again and send within the one-hour rental window. Keep TRX available for possible additional costs.
  5. If resources do not arrive, send support the public payment transaction ID, sender address and payment time. Do not repeatedly pay to resolve the same issue.

Rent Energy or burn TRX: what changes?

For an illustrative 65,000-Energy shortfall, burning at 100 sun per Energy costs 6.5 TRX. The matching one-hour TronZero package costs 2 TRX: 4.5 TRX less, approximately 69.2% of that Energy-only cost.

Energy shortfallBurning TRXRental packageDifference
65,000 Energy6.5 TRX2 TRX / 1h4.5 TRX · 69.2%
131,000 Energy13.1 TRX4 TRX / 1h9.1 TRX · 69.5%

Example assumptions: no available Energy; 100 sun/Energy; the package covers the estimate and is used within its window. Bandwidth, the rental-payment transaction and other possible costs are excluded. Energy consumption and chain parameters may change; this is not a fixed total fee for every USDT transfer.

Formula: Energy shortfall × sun per Energy ÷ 1,000,000. Reference checked 6 November 2026.
