GUIDE 02 · USDT TRC20

Why USDT TRC20 transfer fees can change

A USDT transfer on TRON is a smart-contract interaction, not just a basic coin transfer.

Energy is part of the cost

When a wallet calls the USDT TRC20 contract, the network consumes Energy. If the wallet has insufficient Energy, TRX may be burned for the resource cost. The exact requirement is determined by the transaction’s execution conditions, not simply the amount of USDT being sent.

Why two transfers may cost different amounts

RECIPIENT STATE

A recipient wallet’s token state can affect contract execution.

AVAILABLE RESOURCES

Existing Energy and Bandwidth reduce what must be covered with TRX.

NETWORK RULES

Network resource pricing and contract behavior can change over time.

Practical checklist

Before a transfer, check the wallet’s live estimate, make sure the selected rental window has not expired, and retain enough TRX for any potential Bandwidth or Energy shortfall. Never treat a package as a guaranteed number of transfers.

How to check the likely cost before sending

Open the transfer in the wallet that will sign it and read that wallet’s current resource estimate. Check the available Energy, available Bandwidth, and TRX balance in the same wallet. The estimate shown immediately before signing is more useful than a price quoted on a website because the final result depends on the transaction that the wallet prepares at that moment.

What a fixed Energy package does — and does not — mean

A one-hour package supplies delegated Energy for the stated window. It does not guarantee a fixed number of USDT transfers, remove every network cost, or replace the wallet’s own transaction review. Leave enough TRX for a possible shortfall and verify the recipient address, token, and amount before signing. If the wallet changes its estimate, treat the updated estimate as the decision point.

Safety note: A service can receive a public wallet address to delegate resources. It should never need a seed phrase, private key, or wallet password.

Rent Energy or burn TRX: what changes?

For an illustrative 65,000-Energy shortfall, burning at 100 sun per Energy costs 6.5 TRX. The matching one-hour TronZero package costs 2 TRX: 4.5 TRX less, approximately 69.2% of that Energy-only cost.

65,000 Energy6.5 TRX2 TRX / 1h4.5 TRX · 69.2%
131,000 Energy13.1 TRX4 TRX / 1h9.1 TRX · 69.5%

Example assumptions: no available Energy; 100 sun/Energy; the package covers the estimate and is used within its window. Bandwidth, the rental-payment transaction and other possible costs are excluded. Energy consumption and chain parameters may change; this is not a fixed total fee for every USDT transfer.

Formula: Energy shortfall × sun per Energy ÷ 1,000,000. Reference checked 6 November 2026.
